Fanboy Rave: Electromagnetic Girlfriend is Many Kinds of Awesome

One of the things I love about MyAnimeList (MAL) is that you can see what anime your friends are watching. Many times this brings up something that I become interested in checking out. When I saw that some of my MAL friends added Electromagnetic Girlfriend (Denpa teki na Kanojo) to their list, I clicked the link and then saw this come up under the “Recommendations” section:

For those of you not familiar with MAL, the recommendations feature is basically a “If you liked … then you might like this show” sort of thing. It’s no secret that I fucking love Higurashi, so seeing this come up got me immediately interested.  So I grabbed some of the episodes and went to check it out.

Electromagnetic Girlfriend was just as amazing as I expected, and then some. Now, it’s still very new, being only two 45-minute episodes long. But from the two episodes I saw, I was very impressed. I absolutely crave anime involving crazy yandere girls (as if that wasn’t evident enough already), and this anime is no exception. Now, it’s still nowhere near as amazing as Higurashi is, but I do expect it to get pretty close in the future episodes. Sadly, Electromagnetic Girlfriend is an OVA series, which means we’ll get one episode every few months. Still, I’m very excited to see more of this series. Do yourself a favor and watch this show. Like, now.
