Otaku in Review Podcast: Zero no Something Sensai

Scott and I discuss Zero no Tsukaima, Sora no Woto, Final Fantasy XIII, the Clannad dub, and upcoming anime conventions. Not much in terms of news this week, but we still had plenty to talk about. Check back next week where I’ll give my thoughts of I-Con 29 and Scott and I will talk more about the upcoming Anime Boston!

Right off the bat. I’ve only listened to a few minutes of it and will give a full analysis at the end but right off the bat you sound more pronounced. You seem to be really putting your thoughts out there. Your vocal tone changes when we can tell you’re really excited, bored or angry. That’s good. Bring all that passion into the podcast. You two seem to be giving yourself more time to respond to each other without cutting off too.
Sorry about the wait. Not much more to add this week. In the later half of the show you got really hyped up and started to take time away from Scott. Honestly, I didn’t mind this as most of the time Scott sounded dead or extremely bored. I’m glad to see this show is finally turning into a truly good podcast.
Now, this isn’t for the show but instead my opinion on the video players. What is your problem with Funimation’s Videoplayer? I’ve watched episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and I have not experienced that many problems. The main problem is how long it takes to load in the beginning. Now, it’s not the best video player. Neither is youtube’s. That honor should go to Vimeo.
Thanks! I tried to be more vocal in this episode (with the help of some caffeine) and it looks like it worked out. I’ll try to keep this consistent throughout future shows.
As for FUNimation’s video player, my biggest complaint about it is the quality of the video itself. 480p doesn’t cut it for me, and I wish an HD option were available, even if I had to pay for it. I’ve also heard an array of other complaints from others, saying that the player sometimes “dies” in the middle of an episode and pauses to buffer A LOT.
I believe what you are hearing is my eagerness to return to Final Fantasy XIII combined with hunger. It was a late record, ended after 8, and I didn’t eat yet. ^^;; But Jon has far more experience with conventions so it was better to let him hog the bulk of that time anyway.
@Scott Read up on the posts I put on the last episode Scott to see where I think some of the problems lay within the show.
The ending at 8 thing doesn’t really mean as much to me as it does to you. I already have one of the crazies sleep schedules known to man.
@Janai Awesome! Keep up the good work.
I think that FUNimation charges for HD versions of episodes that can only be downloaded. I do agree that they should allow a person to view the full 1080p version via streaming. I personally haven’t experienced that I know that sometimes if I have to many caches the video player will start skipping and the audio might go out of sync. Which are big problems but as I said I’d rather them use something like Vimeo on the new portal.
