Ray's Top 10 RPG List: Part 1
After a long absence in writing I’m back with my own response to Janai’s Top RPG list. I’ll follow the original rules of only one RPG per series and give a different look into the genre. So without further ado, prepare for an awesome trip into the world of my favorite RPGs.
#10: Mother 3
Many gamers of the SNES generation hold a special place in their hearts for the quirky, obscure, little RPG called Earthbound, or as it was called in Japan, Mother 2. This game is the sequel to that gem.
Mother 3 tweaks the Earthbound formula and fixes some of the flaws of its predecessor to become a shining achievement. The pacing of the story is expertly handled, quickly grabbing the player and pulling them in. The story also carries significant weight, dealing with heavy losses in a young boy’s family. It also delves into the dangers of increasing technology, as you see a small peaceful town blow up into a modern city. It’s hard to go into more detail without spoiling the story.
Game Review: Ace Attorney Investigations – Miles Edgeworth
The Ace Attorney series has been a very successful and simplistic adventure game series. While it has overtones of classic adventure titles, all the games have displayed characters in a format more reminiscent of a visual novel, displaying the characters as animated portraits with text boxes on the bottom. While this format has worked very well for the series, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth marks the first time the player can control the characters inside of an environment.
Game Review: Flower

My philosophy when approaching video games is that every aspect must merge with the gameplay. Ideally every bit of the game should complement the core concept and gameplay. This is very hard to do, but Flower is one of those games that does this.
I was extremely reluctant to download Flower after hearing about its short length. Many, many reviews praised its art and said little about its gameplay. I knew it was about controlling the wind or something, and that it was about collecting flower petals. I also knew it primarily use the SIXAXIS controls, but besides those tidbits, I was in the dark. The gameplay seemed barely worthwhile and I was afraid I was burning close to $10 for a piece of interactive art when I wanted a game.
