Simulcast Links updated I guess

The Simulcast Links page has been updated to contain links to all of the simulcasts for this season. Well, all except for the Boku Wa Tomodachi Ga Sukenkai simulcast that’s supposed to be on NicoNico. The episodes are on Funimation’s site, but not on NicoNico for whatever reason. Speaking of NicoNico, they make it a bitch and a half to find the actual channel pages for shows now. By which I mean they’re not linked anywhere on the site (as far as I know) and the only way to find them is to guess the URL for the page. So that’s fun.

So yeah, the page is up to date until NicoNico starts streaming that one show, or Sentai decides to start streaming something a month late or whatever.

Simulcast Links updated

Now that Crunchyroll has finally announced the final show in their summer lineup I should mention that I’ve updated the Simulcast Links page. It has all the new simulcasts from Crunchyroll, plus all of the continuing simulcasts from the previous season. Summer has also seen the entry of two new players in the simulcast field. Bandai is doing their first simulcast this season with the series Sacred Seven, which they are streaming through Hulu and Crunchyroll.

There’s also NicoNico, the recently launched English version of a Japanese video site. NicoNico’s largest contribution to the simulcasting business would appear to be delaying some series on Crunchyroll. Any series that is on both sites will only be on NicoNico at first, with the episode going up on Crunchyroll a week later. On the positive side this has caused Crunchyroll to change how things work for non-subscribers, so now any series that was on NicoNico first is viewable by both subscribers and non-subscribers at the same time on Crunchyroll. Of course you still have to pay if you want to watch it in HD on Crunchyroll.

Alongside links to every simulcast there’s also information about the various sites that stream the simulcasts. I’ve also added logos for every site because logos are cool. So yeah. Go look at the page.

Funimation simulcasts [C], licenses Panty & Stocking, has open beta for new site

Funimation’s new website went into open beta today, and with it comes a couple announcements. Funimation will be simulcasting one of the new series from the noitaminA block, [C] Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility starting next Thursday, April 21st at 12:35 PM Eastern time.

The new site also revealed that Funimation had licensed Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, one of the latest series from Gainax. The series had previouly been simulcasted on Crunchyroll. No word on a release date yet.

For the new site, Funimation will not be using embedded Hulu videos anymore, meaning if you’re Canadian you can now watch their simulcasts and other videos. This was, in my case, the biggest problem with their streaming in the past.

Funimation announced yesterday that they would also be simulcasting Toriko.

Simulcasts Links page

I put up a page listing every series currently being simulcast, where you can find them, as well as information on the various sites that host them.

Janai used to make a new post every season with links but I figured this would be easier to manage, and it being linked at the top of the page would make it easier for people to see.

So yeah, go look at it I guess.
