What OtakuAnthony bought this week October 21st
Clannad BD Complete Collection
Plot Synopsis: “Tortured by his past and pained by an uncertain future, Tomoya drifts through life with an almost overwhelming anger and emptiness. But when he meets the mysterious, beautiful, and shy Nagisa, his world seems to change. Drawn in by her gentle but lonely spirit, he begins to experience the joy life can bring. But as he discovers the reason for his newfound friend’s loneliness, Tomoya also finds that life can be frighteningly fragile.”
While I do have the Clannad Complete Collection DVD set, I wanted to get the Blu-ray to see the series in all of its HD glory.
Clannad BD Complete Collection is available from RightStuf

Chi’s Sweet Home GN 7
Plot Synopsis “Chi finds herself in her biggest predicament yet! While exploring her new neighborhood with a new young feline peer, she becomes lost as a downpour has masked the scents she was so heavily relying upon for direction. Confused and hungry, the two decide to hunt around the community for scraps as sustanance. After searching for leftovers and meals left for other unaware pets turns fruitless, Chi and her new friend Cocchi resort to more extreme measures to keep their energy flowing.”
I had pre-ordered this during the last Vertical sale at RightStuf but it came out on Tuesday and even though I am a dog lover I enjoy Chi’s Sweet Home.

Kampfer: Complete Collection DVD:
Plot Synopsis: “Waking up transformed into a beautiful girl might be the stuff of some guys’ fantasies, but when the suddenly effeminatized Natsuru is informed by a stuffed tiger that he’s now a Kampfer, a mystical fighter who has to fight other Kampfers in female form, his life becomes a living nightmare!
Putting aside the obvious “plumbing” issues, Natusru’s best childhood friend turns out to swing the other way and SHE has a crush on his new female body. Not complex enough? Natsuru’s school has separate sections for boys and girls, so he and she are now double enrolled. The rumor-mill has it that he’s dating herself. And there are other Kampfers attending the school who want to take her out, and he’s not sure which ones mean “on a date” and which ones mean “permanently.” Oh, and did we mention that some Kampfers use swords and gun?! Hormones, fists, and other body parts will fly as the daring, new gender-blender defender must become a contender or die!”
Rented the series some time ago, enjoyed what little I saw so I saw that Amazon.com had it new for cheap.

Toradora! GN 1:
Plot Synopsis: “Ryuji Takasu has learned the hard way that appearances can be deceiving. Despite his inwardly sweet personality, his unintentionally sharp gaze and aggressive features give him the air of a delinquent thug, putting his chances at making new friends, let alone a girlfriend, next to zero.
It’s Ryuji’s first day in high school and it seems as if things are looking up. He gets to sit in between his only friend, Yusaku, and more importantly, the girl he’s secretly crushing on, Minori Kushieda. But just when he thinks the stars are aligned in his favor, he unwittingly crosses the most feared girl in school, Taiga Aisaku, making her his arch enemy. To top it off, Taiga has moved in right next door to Ryuji and happens to be Minori’s best friend! Can this school year possibly get any worse?!”
Even though I have only watched the first half of Toradora! I felt that I should at least read the manga as well.

Chi’s Sweet Home GN 6:
Plot Synopsis: “Exploring her new surroundings, Chi encounters countless new friends, including another young feline named Cocchi. This new kitty comrade opens up a whole new world for our star. Prior to this encounter she had a mild awareness of what it was like to be a cat. To Chi, she was Chi and the Yamadas were her clan. Now with another one of her kind clearly there, Chi is more willing than ever to accept that a cat’s world is one that she should be and will eventually be a part of.
While on a rare night excursion, our furry heroine reunites with an old friend and is introduced to a world where a whole community of cats of all shapes and sizes congregate in the twilight. This reunion with her mentor Blackie allows Chi to slowly move closer and closer to that long awaited reunion with her own cat family. Even if she is no longer searching for her own original home it is suddenly closer than it’s ever been.”
While I am not a huge cat lover (I’m more of a dog person myself) I find some charm in reading Chi’s Sweet home. It always seems to lift my mostly depressed spirits when I read it.
Otaku in Review Podcast – I Prefer the Other Seitokai

This week Michael Camacho from The OtakuGamer joined us to talk about what he’s watching from the Summer season, including why he loves Seitokai Yakuindomo so much and why I was not at all impressed with it. We also get into a debate over Mitsudomoe (and why it’s amazing), which turned out to be rather civil, much to Scott’s disappointment.
In the news: some kickass new licenses, an amazing composer you probably have never heard of is coming to Otakon, and the unfortunate passing of Speed Racer voice actor Peter Fernandez. All this and more on this week’s Otaku in Review podcast!
