Negima! Magister Negi Magi GN Omnibus 1-2

Plot Synopsis (from GN Omnibus 1): “Follow the adventures of Negi Springfield, a fresh magic academy graduate, as he starts his new job as a teacher at an all-girls high school. Can he balance his teaching duties while pursuing his dream to become a great wizard like his father?”

I hve the original Del Ray volumes of Negima! but only up to volume 8.  I decided that it would be easier for me to go after the omnibuses instead of going after the rest of the volumes via singles.  Plus I wanted to see the new translation.

Negima! Magister Negi Magi GN Omnibus 1 is available from RightStuf

Dance in the Vampire Bund GN Volume 10

Plot Synopsis: “Lord Ivanovic is dead. Akira and the members of Beowulf have averted all-out war with the three vampire clans and prevented the Bund’s nuclear reactor from going critical and raining down radioactive fallout across the entire Kantou region. In response to the repeated assasination attempts on her life, Mina Tepes’ policies have taken an overly hardline approach, if not erratic and unpredictable. When the truth finally comes out, there will be hell to pay.”

I had this pre-ordered this volume back in July during the last Seven Seas sale at Rightstuf and it finally shipped out this week.

Queen’s Blade 2: The Evil Eye BD Complete Series

Plot Synopsis: “The end of the Queen’s Blade has come, and only the strongest remain. Leina, Tomoe, and the rest of the finalists take up residence in Gynos, the Queen’s Capital. Each girl is paired up in a duel, and friends are forced to fight each other with their lives on the line. When the smoke clears, who will be crowned queen?”

I had pre-ordered this off Amazon since they had it cheaper than Rightstuf even on its weekly sales that it is usually on.  However, I had to wait longer than those who had ordered this off of Right Stuf who got it sooner.

Dance in the Vampire Bund DVD/BD Complete Series LE

Plot Synopsis: “When Mina Tepes, Queen of the Vampires, suddenly appears in Japan to establish a colony for her blood-sucking brethren, Akira Kaburagi’s world will never be the same. As a boy, Akira vowed to serve the ruler of the night, and now he must fulfill his destiny by protecting Mina from those who would dethrone her!”

I am a fan of the manga series and I’ve been curious about the anime adaptation of the manga series so I decided to give the anime a shot

Tenjho Tenge GN 1

Plot Synopsis: “Soichiro Nagi and Bob Makihara have always been the meanest street brawlers around. When they enter Todo High they plan on carving out a reputation as the strongest fighters in their new school – easier said than done in a place that’s dedicated to training its students in the art of combat!

After realizing they’re the new fish swimming in a tank full of sharks, Soichiro and Bob enter the Juken fight club as rookie members. However, the Executive Council – the archrival of the Juken Club – soon launches a surprise attack. Soichiro and Bob have a chance to show their stuff, as long as they don’t get curb-kicked in the process!”

I’ve been curious about the manga for a while now, especially since it was going to be released in an uncut format.

Knights of the Zodiac GN 28

Plot Synopsis: “As Seiya lies defeated in Elysium, all the friends and comrades he’s met in his battles join forces to revive him. But only a miracle can save Seiya now… a miracle worthy of the ancient Olympian gods! Meanwhile, at the shrine of Hades, Athena lies close to death and Hades is about to reawaken in his true form. To win this final battle, the Bronze Knights must prepare to put their lives on the line against ultimate evil…”

Now I am a huge fan of the Saint Seiya series and while I purchased the last volume of this manga, my copy disappeared so I purchased it again.

Ouran High School Host club GN 6 & 8

Plot Synopsis (from GN 6): “It’s an all out Cross-Campus Ultra race to determine what group gets the best and most coveted greeting room (aka Central Salon) in which to entertain parents for the upcoming School Festival. Will Host Club outwit and outplay the sheer muscle power of the football team for top spot?”

Part of a previous order that I ordered some time ago.  I do not need to explain why I purchased it again.

Otaku in Review Podcast – Dance in the Vampire ****

In the latest episode of the OIR podcast, Scott & I invited Greg (@Thedigitalbug) from Reisen Goes to School by Bus to come on and discuss with us the hottest topic as of late: FUNimation’s decision to edit “objectionable content” from Dance in the Vampire Bund. We also discuss Evangelion 1.0/1.11, our first impressions with Final Fantasy XIII, and we briefly touch the topic of Dragon Ball Z Kai being on Nicktoons.

I was a little hyper when we recorded this one, so I get passionate about some topics. If you can’t stand my crazy opinions that people love to hate, then I suggest you stay away!

EVANGELION SPOILER WARNING - If you have not seen the original Eva series or Eva 1.0/1.11, you may want to skip ahead to 13:50.

Censorship in a Nutshell (Updated)

There’s been a huge hubbub on the Internet recently over FUNimation’s decision to censor “objectionable content” from the home entertainment release of their recent acquisition Dance in the Vampire Bund. I’ve already been more than vocal about it on Twitter. Here, I’m just going to summarize my thoughts:
