Funimation licenses Hellsing Ultimate 8, begins production on 5+

Funimation announced today that it has acquired the latest episode in the ongoing Hellsing Ultimate OVA series, episode 8. Episodes 1-4 had originally been released by Geneon Entertainment, and Funimation announced the acquisition of episodes 5-7 at Anime Expo last year.

Hellsing Ultimate was one of several series caught up in the Geneon Univeral merger happening in Japan, which caused a delay in the delivery of materials. But production on episodes 5+ has finally begun. New Generation Pictures, the studio that produced the dub for the first 4 episodes, will be handling the dub of episodes 5+ allowing the original cast to be retained.

Vampires are real, and it’s up to Hellsing, a secret organization led by Integra Hellsing, to keep the public safe from these unholy creatures of the night. When the severity and frequency of vampire attacks begins to escalate, Hellsing may have more than it can handle, even with the help of its most powerful vampire—Arucard. The Hellsing Organization must face not only regular ghouls and vampires, but a rivaling secret organization from the Vatican, and an enigmatic group of madmen, called Millennium, intent on destroying Arucard.

Funimation will begin releasing the new episodes of the OVA next year.

Otaku in Review Podcast – We Haven't Gotten to a Sex Scene… Yet

Scott states his qualms with the B Gata H Kei finale and the possibilities of why the writers have been receiving death threats. Also, Jon talks about the totally awesome shooter game Deathsmiles (check out his review).

K-ON!! has been confirmed to be 26 episodes. Where will the series be headed in its third and (possibly) final season? We speculate in this episode.

And of course, we talk about all of the totally freakin’ awesome license announcements that came out of Anime Expo 2010.
