Rosario + Vampire DVD Bundle Season 1 and 2

Plot Synopsis: “Tsukune looks to be a typical high school student, but his grades are bad to the bone. Rejected by school after school, he finally gets accepted by an academy that’s more than a little out of his neighborhood. Unfortunately, it’s a school for monsters and Tsukune is the lone human! While forced to hide his secret, along comes a cute – but hungry – vampire girl named Moka. Beneath her cute and clumsy exterior, she too is not exactly as she seems…”

I read the first volume of the manga a few months ago and I decided that I had to see the anime version of the show.  Right Stuf had both seasons in a bundle set that included some nice extras like an art book and some lenticular cards.

K-ON! BD volume 4

But her guitar playing is just too perfect and she’s seems to be too polite to everyone. What has happened to Yui, and will she be make it to the performance in time?

Melancholy has set in on a cold winter day, as all the girls face some troubles doing their own thing. But a sudden text message from Yui cheers them up and they are all able to rally together and rock in the New Year at their first live house performance!”

Deepdiscount had the last volume of the K-ON! BD on sale for cheaper than Amazon or Right Stuf so I figured that I should get the last K-On! BD for my collection.

The other volumes of the BD are available from Right Stuf and the DVD singles are also available.

Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat: Complete Collection

Plot Synopsis: “Princess Dejiko has a mission: to make everyone on her planet happy. Whether she comes across a sleepy baker, a famous film director, a time traveler or a starving artist, Dejiko and her friends are always ready to help. But will the evil Deji Devil find a way to stop her? Will his sidekick Piyoko ruin Dejiko’s career as an actress? Will Dejiko ever be able to tell her friends that she’s really a princess?”

I’ve never seen this series at all.  While I generally do not blind buy things anymore DeepDiscount had a Black Friday sale that is to be truthful practically stealing with the prices that I was able to get this set for.

Bandai Entertainment November 2011 Releases

Bandai Entertainment’s November releases have been added to RightStuf and are now available for pre-order. The reason they’re just revealing November releases when we’ve already gotten December from Funi and Sentai is because Bandai is just slow like that.

K-ON! BD 3

Plot Synopsis: “Azusa has just joined the Light Music Club and she is shocked that all they do is drink tea and eat snacks instead of practicing. The rest of the band reassures her that they will practice hard at their training camp, but despite Azusa’s objections the girls end up playing all day at the beach.

Azusa soon learns that reason why the band plays so well is because they have so much fun together. With the school festival right around the corner, the girls still have some hurdles to clear, like filling out the stage use application, doing maintenance on Yui’s guitar, and coming up with a band name!”

I like K-on! both the manga and the little bit of the anime that I have seen.  Decided to get the next BD in the show.

K-ON! BD 3 is available from RightStuf

The DVD version is also available from RightStuf

Plot Synopsis (from Collection 1): “They’re called Needless – mutants who wield amazing powers such as super speed, the ability to change form, and some, like Blade, the power to “learn” other opponent’s powers. It’s Blade’s greatest ability, but is it powerful enough to overcome his weakness for cute young girls in revealing little skirts?”

I watched the first episode of the series a few days ago and I really enjoyed it a lot.  Overstock.com had the first set on sale for cheaper than Amazon or RightStuf.  The second set I found for a cheaper price than RightStuf on Amazon.com

MM! Complete Collection DVD

Plot Synopsis: “There are twisted tales and twisted tales, but few are as twisted as poor Sado’s, who’s just realized that he actually likes being made miserable. Of course, knowing that only makes him more miserable, which in turn… well, you get the idea. Desperate to break the circle, Sado volunteers for a special club where he hopes he can work through his issues only to discover that the other members have equally… complex… issues to deal with.

For example, the hyper-aggressive club president Isurugi not only has a violent fear of cats, but also believes herself to be a god! Then there’s Yuno, who’s terrified of men; the Nurse, who forces other people to perform cosplay; and Hayama, Sado’s best friend and a compulsive cross-dresser, who’s also the girl that Sado is infatuated with.”

I watched a few episodes of this show as it was airing in Japan and coming out via fansubs, but I had a lot on plate at that time and decided to put the series on hold.  Someone on Amazon marketplace had MM! on sale for new cheaper than RightStuf.

Soul Eater GN 2-6

Plot Synopsis (from GN 2) : “The remedial assignment continues as Soul and Maka confront Dr. Franken Stein, the man behind Sid-sensei’s unfortunate transformation and the strongest meister ever to graduate from Death Weapon Meister Academy. Even without a weapon, his massive soul dwarfs them all – even big shot Black*Star! Can Maka rally her strength to face Stein in battle, or will despair be her downfall?”

I liked the first volume of Soul Eater and the few episodes that I have seen of the anime.  Decided to get a few more volumes for my collection at this time.

Soul Eater GN is available from RightStuf

Twin Spica GN 2-6:

Plot Synopsis (from GN 2): “Where were you when the first International Space Station was scrapped and dropped into Earth’s atmosphere? It was Asumi’s first day in space school, and she promised Lion she wouldn’t cry or be homesick as she will be leaving her quiet seaside town for the big city.

Waiting for her in Tokyo will be a lot of work. She’s going to have to go through the rigors of space exploration training at the Tokyo Space School. After hours, Asumi will focus her efforts on homework when not earning her tuition at the neighborhood Denny’s. With all of the work she and her classmates are putting in, why does space still feel so far away?”

I have heard many good things about Twin Spica for a while now and after reading the first volume, I decided I had to add this to my collection.

Twin Spica GN is available from RightStuf

Peepo Choo GN 2-3

Plot Synopsis (from GN 2): “The version of Tokyo that Milton is now witness to is nothing like what he saw in his favorite cartoons and comics. Instead, Tokyo is a bustling and surprisingly quiet megaopolis, where salarymen are seen more often than cosplayers and no one seems to have read the Peepo Choo manga. What’s more, those who do read comics – and they come from every age group and demographic – are reading comics about sports heroes, office employess, wine tasters, and politicians instead of ninjas and giant robots”

This was one manga that I kept hearing about time and time again.  I read the first volume months ago and decided to get the rest of the series.

Peepo Choo GN is available from RightStuf

Higurashi: When they Cry GN 2-4

Plot Synopsis (from GN 2): “The further embroiled in the investigation he becomes, the more Keiichi’s suspicions about his new friends grow. Their strange behavior only gives rise to more questions. Keiichi’s paranoia reaches a fever pitch… with good reason. Assaulted by one terror after another, he nears the inevitable, bloody solution to the series of mysterious deaths caused by “Oyashiro-sama’s Curse”!”

While I enjoy the Higurashi: When They cry anime I never read any of the manga.  Bought the first volume back during the last Yen Press sale at Right Stuf and after reading it decided to go ahead and add this series to my collection.

Higurashi: When They Cry GN is available from RightStuf

K-On! GN 3

Plot Synopsis: “As the dawn breaks on a new year, Azusa decides it’s time for the girls of the Pop Music Club to tuck away their tea and cakes, pick up their instruments, and bring the rock ‘n’roll with another performance! But even though Afterschool Tea Time is starting to sound like a real band, Mio’s stage fright is going to make any live show tricky. What better way to cure shyness than with a part-time job… at a maid cafe?!”

I like the K-On! anime and I also enjoy the manga as well.  Decided to keep adding to my growing collection.

K-On! GN 3 is available from RightStuf

Bunny Drop GN1

Plot Synopsis: “Returning to his family’s estate for his grandfather’s funeral, thirty-something bachelor Daikichi is floored to discover that the old man had an illegitimate child with a much younger lover! Needless to say, the rest of the family is shocked and embarrassed by this turn of events, and not one of them wants anything to do with the little girl, who refuses to say a word. In a fit of angry spontaneity, Daikichi decides to adopt her! But is living with an overgrown teenager who can barely take care of himself the key to making Rin come out of her shell?”

The little that I have seen of the anime made me decided to check out the manga.  Yes, I do know about what happens later on since a lot of people are up in arms about it and spoiled it for everyone, but I do not care about that.

Bunny Drop GN 1 is available from RightStuf

Omamori Himari GN 2

Plot Synopsis: “Sure, timid Yuuto Amakawa has his hands (and bed?!) full with his new housemate, the beguiling, sword-wielding cat spirit Himari, who has sworn to protect him from spirits out for his slayer blood! But Yuuto’s desire to coexist peacefully with the spirits his ancestors once hunted has a not-entirely-unwanted side effect: his life is suddenly chock-full of beautiful girls!

He’s got a Lolita water spirit now also freeloading at his place, and he keeps finding himself in the middle of random encounters with gorgeous female spirits of all shapes and sizes. Yup, Yuuto’s got it made! That is, until a trip to his late grandparents’house turns deadly…”

The first volume did not do a lot for me, but I decided that I would give it another shot and check out the 2nd volume before I decided if I want to read more of it or not.

Omamori Himari GN 2 is available from RightStuf

Ichiroh! GN 3

Plot Synopsis: “Things are heating up as summer gets into full swing! But while the days of sunshine are great for beach outings and sunbathing, they are terrible for prep school students like Nanako and Akane. As if the temptation of summer fun wasn’t bad enough, the heat is making it even more unbearable to stay indoors and hit the books. Nanako needs to find a way to cool off, but her penny-pinching ways are making the decision to buy a fan or an AC much more complicated than she expected!”

While I ordered the other volumes of the Ichiroh! manga this volume shipped out.  I liked volume 1 and wanted to read the rest of the series.

Ichiroh! GN 3 is available from RightStuf

Mobile Suit Gundam DVD complete collection 1 (Anime Legend)

Plot Synopsis: “Universal Century 0079. The rebel space colonies of the Principality of Zeon launch a war of independence against the Earth Federation, using humanoid fighting vehicles called mobile suits to overwhelm the Federation Forces and conquer half of Earth’s surface. Months later, the Federation has finally developed its own prototype mobile suits at a remote space colony. But when the colony suffers a Zeon surprise attack, these new weapons fall into the hands of a motley crew of civilians and cadets, and fate places a youth named Amuro Ray at the controls of the white mobile suit Gundam…”

It should be known by now that I am a huge fan of the Gundam franchise.  I bought the DVD’s from the first series way back in 2001 when they started coming out.  I still those DVD’s to this day.  I heard about this set coming out again with the original Japanese audio track so this was a must for me.

Mio is forced to be the lead vocalist in her stead, but can she overcome her stage fright?

Later, the Light Music Club celebrates Christmas with a party and gift exchange, and soon another school year begins. If they want the Light Music Club to live on even after they graduate, they’re going to have to recruit new members, and that means another performance at the freshman reception!”

Initial D DVD Stage 4 Part 1 and 2:

Plot Synopsis (from Part 1): “Nobody drives like Takumi; his instincts, confidence, and downhill expertise make him seem unbeatable. Now that he’s joined the Project D racing crew, his reputation precedes him as the team travels the region, facing the competition on its own turf. Every challenger brings a unique style and each course holds its own dangers, but no matter the obstacle in Takumi’s headlights, he’ll do whatever it takes to put it in the rearview mirror. Because he knows when you’re born to race and driven to be the best, it’s not enough to be fast – Takumi won’t take his eyes off the road until he’s faster than everyone else.

Being that I like cars and racing it should be a given that I would like Initial D.  I had the first three stages but I need the last two sets for my collection.  Amazon.com had the sets for more than half off so I could not resist getting them.  Someday I would like to do a review of the whole anime Initial D franchise.

Baka & Test: Summon The Beast Season 1 DVD/BD Limited Edition:

Plot Synopsis: “When a fight breaks out at Fumizuki Academy, nobody throws a single punch. Instead, the students utilize the school’s technology to summon Avatars, pint-sized stand-ins with battle powers based on academic ability. That “academic ability” part is bad news for Yoshii: he’s an idiot, stuck in lowly Class F with the slackers. If these misfits want to escape their dump of a classroom and earn some respect, they’ll have to fight their way up the ranks and take on Class A, the Academy’s brightest students. It’s going to be tough, that’s for sure, but once the underachievers of Class F get motivated, they don’t give up – and Yoshii can’t even spell surrender!

I’ve heard about this series before but I never watched any episode and did not have much interest in it.  After a while I noticed that with some of the orders that I got from RightStuf I got ad cards for Baka & Test.  After a while I got interested in seeing it.  Well to my happiness Comcast had the first episode free On Demand and last month I watched the first episode and was hooked from there on out.  Amazon.com had the series on pre-order for a great price and I decided to go ahead and order it.

Baka & Test: Summon The Beast Season 1 DVD/BD Limited Edition is available from Right Stuf.

Your fellow travelers will include slutty Young Republicans, a mutant or two, and athletic adult entertainers. Joy will bloom in your consciousness like mushrooms after a sacred rain!”

I love Funimation’s dub of Shin Chan.  I find it quite funny even if it is a required taste to enjoy.

Meanwhile, the rest of the students are gearing up for the upcoming School Festival. To Ayana’s chagrin, most of the classes – including her own – have decided to have maid cafes! Worst of all… Ayana’s girl-crazy roommate Jun is in charge of designing Ayana’s maid outfit, and it’s sure to be too hot to handle!”
