Mardock Scramble: The First Compression
Plot Synopsis: “To stop the unstoppable you need the irresistible. To kill the unkillable, you need someone for whom death no longer has a meaning. And to catch the perfect serial killer, you need the one person who knows his methods the best… his last victim! Murdered and reborn, no longer human, the female cyborg Balot exists for only one reason: to track down the man who killed her and bring him to justice. But can even the ultimate hybrid between ghost and machine take down a monster who wipes his own memory… especially when his partner already has her in his sights? The future will be painted blood red as vengeance hit the streets!”
I started reading the Mardock Scramble book recently, though I bought ages ago, so I decided to pick up the movie. I haven’t watched yet, since I’m waiting until I finish the book, but the book itself is pretty good. It’s action sci-fi with a whole lot of disturbing things, like rape, and child molestation, and weird villains with body parts stitched to them. So that’s fun. The R1 DVD is actually the theatrical cut as opposed to the extended version that was released on DVD/BD in Japan. Given that the extended edition probably just has more nudity and rape, I’m perfectly fine with this version.

Negima!? Magister Negi Magi (S.A.V.E.)
Plot Synopsis: “Wizard Negi Springfield may be a boy, but he has a man-sized job to do! Fresh from the Academy of Magic, Negi continues his training as an instructor at Mahora Academy in Japan. But before he can get his Master’s in magic, the 31 schoolgirls of Class 3-A are gonna keep him up all night cramming for a final exam in will power. Temptation aside, Negi has more on his syllabus than flirting and spells. Darkness is closing in, and Negi is gonna need help from his student bodies to drive the ghouls from their school. These girls want to prove that they’re best in class, and extra credit is available to the cuties who aren’t afraid of after-hours phantom fighting – especially if it means more time with their favorite professor.”
I actually watched this entire series on Funimation’s YouTube channel because I was bored one weekend. It’s pretty funny. Well the dub is anyway. It’s pretty clear that the dub script had a fair amount of extra jokes and whatnot put into it. Since it hit the S.A.V.E. line I figured I might as well get it, and now I can easily compare the scripts, which is something I regularly do because I have too much free time.

Negima! Magister Negi Magi GN Omnibus 1-2
Plot Synopsis (from GN Omnibus 1): “Follow the adventures of Negi Springfield, a fresh magic academy graduate, as he starts his new job as a teacher at an all-girls high school. Can he balance his teaching duties while pursuing his dream to become a great wizard like his father?”
I hve the original Del Ray volumes of Negima! but only up to volume 8. I decided that it would be easier for me to go after the omnibuses instead of going after the rest of the volumes via singles. Plus I wanted to see the new translation.

Dance in the Vampire Bund GN Volume 10
Plot Synopsis: “Lord Ivanovic is dead. Akira and the members of Beowulf have averted all-out war with the three vampire clans and prevented the Bund’s nuclear reactor from going critical and raining down radioactive fallout across the entire Kantou region. In response to the repeated assasination attempts on her life, Mina Tepes’policies have taken an overly hardline approach, if not erratic and unpredictable. When the truth finally comes out, there will be hell to pay.”
I had this pre-ordered this volume back in July during the last Seven Seas sale at Rightstuf and it finally shipped out this week.

Queen’s Blade 2: The Evil Eye BD Complete Series
Plot Synopsis: “The end of the Queen’s Blade has come, and only the strongest remain. Leina, Tomoe, and the rest of the finalists take up residence in Gynos, the Queen’s Capital. Each girl is paired up in a duel, and friends are forced to fight each other with their lives on the line. When the smoke clears, who will be crowned queen?”
I had pre-ordered this off Amazon since they had it cheaper than Rightstuf even on its weekly sales that it is usually on. However, I had to wait longer than those who had ordered this off of Right Stuf who got it sooner.

Negima Omnibus 1 & 2
Plot Synopsis: “Follow the adventures of Negi Springfield, a fresh magic academy graduate, as he starts his new job as a teacher at an all-girls high school. Can he balance his teaching duties while pursuing his dream to become a great wizard like his father?”
I watched the first Negima anime a while ago, it’s pretty well known for being a kinda crappy adaptation. I watched the second anime recently, which is pretty good but doesn’t really follow the manga at all. Since there will likely never be a decent Negima anime that follows the manga, I figured I should just read it. The omnibus re-releases kind of helped that decision too.
