Plot:

As of a fan of auto racing (it is right up there with anime and video games for me) watching Redline is a no brainer.  It is no surprise to hear that it got a lot of praise all over the internet.  So is the show worth all of the hype it gets, or does it just blow up on the starting line?  The short answer to this question is yes it is worth all the hype it gets.  Of course, the short answer is not going to work here so let me get to the longer reason why this is awesome.

What makes Redline so great is that has such broad range appeal to all types of anime fans.  From the hardest of hardcore, to the newest fans just getting into anime there is something for just about every type of fan to like in Redline.  Even those not into anime would be able to enjoy what Redline brings to the table.  There is no otaku pandering, no “check list” material, and no meta references that you have to be some super anime fan to understand.  It is just over the top excitement when the racing happens and it would not be as enjoyable any other way.

Chaos;Head Complete Series DVD/BD set

Plot Synopsis: “Takumi is an anime-obsessed recluse with a fetish for two-dimensional girls. His dirty little cyber secrets land him in real-life trouble after a chat room encounter with the mysterious General leads him to the scene of a gruesome murder. In the blink of an eye, Takumi goes from a caffeine-addicted gamer to a paranoid murder suspect caught up in something called the New Generation madness.

Between the police and a gang of girls with giant holographic swords, someone is watching his every move. As the world constructed around him begins to unravel, Takumi will discover that nothing – not even his own life – is what it appears to be. Welcome to Chaos Head. Can you survive reality?”

I only watched a little bit of the first episode of Chaos;Head on the Funimation VOD channel on Comcast not too long ago, but I wanted to watch more of the series.  Amazon had the regular non LE set on sale so I figured I should just grab it now.

Chaos;Head Complete Series is available from Right Stuf

I have never watched Redline before but with all the praise that it getting across the internet I figured that I should probably purchase it since it seems to be the hottest thing made in the last few years.  Plus I am a fan of auto racing so I should enjoy it that much more.

Agent Aika Complete Collection (Anime Legends)

Plot Synopsis: “In her search to recover a mysterious energy artifact, Aika encounters a plot for world domination. Watch as the titular Aika attempts to stop a perverted scientist and his army of short-skirt wearing women using only her golden bustier and the ability to transform into a nearly indestructible bikini-clad superwoman!”

I do not blind buy anime that much anymore.  With Bandai Entertainment pulling out I figured that I should get a few more things from Bandai before the price gouging of their goods start.  Never seen this series before but since Buy.com still had the series on sale for less than $20 I though getting it now would probably be for the best

Agent Aika Complete Collection (AL) is available from Right Stuf

You may be thinking, “Oh ho, Antz. I see what you’re doing. You’re trying to really hammer in the point that we should BUY REDLINE.” You’ve completely missed the point, that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying that you should buy that anime fan you somehow know five copies of Redline. Why five? One for watching, one to display on a shelf, one to lend out to people, one to do dirty unspeakable things with, and a backup just in case. “But Antz,” you may be saying, “Redline doesn’t come out until January 17th, and that’s after Christmas.” I don’t really see how that’s my problem.

Otaku in Review Podcast – Black & White and Pokémon All Over

I give my final thoughts on Highschool of the Dead (spoiler: I hated it) and Strike Witches 2 (spoiler: I loved it) while Scott continues to facepalm at how much I love the show. I also do a quick review of the PlayStation Move and give my initial impressions. We get into a mini-debate over Square-Enix and why I don’t like them too much. Scott is also not amused by my inability to care about anything Pokémon.

In the news… Redline gets an awesome trailer that makes me want to see it. Section23 licensed an anime about cats. Some jackasses ruin things for everyone by stealing valuable Bakemonogatari art. Live action Cowboy Bebop apparently costs half a billion dollars. And someone actually invented the Dragon Ball Z scouter (insert “OVER 9000″ joke here).
